「一直以來我都做了一個相同的夢，夢見我穿著紅襪球衣退休！」終於，那個用腳尖點地、打擊手套拉了又拉，才肯打擊的36歲明星游擊手賈西亞帕拉，如夢境般，在昨天紅襪隊為他辦的記者會，開懷中忍著絲絲傷懷，正式引退。
紅襪隊很「感心」，稍早與諾馬（球界通常以他的名字叫他）簽了1天合約，順著他的意為他辦榮退。當他寫上自己姓名的那一刻，心頭百轉千迴而哽咽起來！愛妻與雙胞胎女兒都參與這場溫情滿溢的引退儀式，諾馬下一個工作是擔任ESPN的球評。
諾馬由紅襪發跡，14年大聯盟生涯的前9年都是紅襪人，1997年獲選美聯「最佳新人獎」，連拿1999、2000美聯「打擊王」。
諾馬娓娓道出他願以「紅襪人」退休的原由：「不管我走到哪，都會有很多紅襪迷走來對我說『謝謝你，我們想你，也仍然愛著你』，讓我衷心感受到他們的真誠。希望我生涯穿著這件球衣的作為與今天的作法，能讓紅襪迷知道這對我的意義。」

Nomar Garciaparra – the face of the Boston Red Sox for years before injuries sent him to teams west – will sign with the Red Sox today and then retire. He will then become a baseball analyst for ESPN:
“After years of enjoying the privilege of playing this great game wearing Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, and A’s jerseys in front of truly amazing fans, today I’ve decided to end my playing days,” Garciaparra said in an ESPN news release. “I’ve been blessed to have had a long career as a player and feel fortunate to continue this great journey as a member of the ESPN team.”

Norma是我在波士頓時期，去球場看紅襪比賽的動力之一。
有著很強烈的個人特色，長得酷似港星王敏德，一直深受紅襪球迷的喜愛，正如同在水手隊的一朗。
今天看到這個消息，替Norma覺得惋惜，也有點感傷。在我離開波士頓沒多久後，Norma也轉到芝加哥，長期受傷勢困擾的他，這些年就一直在不停的轉隊，休息這種輪迴中渡過。
選手最害怕的就是有著揮之不去的傷!我說~
